News: USHER ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER DOUBLE TOURTO BENEFIT TODAY’S YOUTH
ATLANTA, G.A., May 5, 2011 – In conjunction with pop superstar Usher Raymond IV’s wildly successful OMG Tour, his New Look Foundation will also run a Powered By Service Tour in five affiliated communities: New York City, New York; Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Los Angeles, California. This will be the entertainer and philanthropist’s first ever “double tour” in the US. A portion of the ticket sales from each Powered By Service Tour date concert will be donated to the New Look Foundation.
"Music is what brings us together as one world and I’m excited to see this generation use its voice to be powered by service,” said Usher Raymond IV, Founding Chairman of Usher’s New Look Foundation. “Our youth leaders have been doing an incredible job throughout the country and around the world. We are excited to bring this successful model to these five great cities”
New Look is a non-profit organization that certifies young people in four leadership pillars – talent, education, career and service – to ensure their success as leaders throughout the world. Each stop on the Powered By Service Tour will provide approximately 50 local youth with leadership training and the opportunity for the youth leaders to meet Usher. The Powered By Service Tour kicks off this weekend, on Sunday, May 8th in New York City. Additional tour stops include:
• Detroit, MI | Sunday, 5/15/2011
• Chicago, IL | Friday, 5/20/2011
• Vancouver, BC | Wednesday, 5/25/2011
• Los Angeles, CA | Wednesday, 6/1/2011
New Look is partnering with local schools and community organizations to implement this tour. During the trainings, the youth will learn valuable lessons including personal branding, how to develop their talents and how to apply for one of Usher's New Look Foundations community grants. They will also receive New Look leadership certifications and have an opportunity to continue their training at New Look’s World Leadership Conference in Atlanta July 20-22, 2011.
